Obituary for Alfred Webkamigad-Assinewai

WEBKAMIGAD-ASSINEWAI, Alfred - of Wikwemikong passed away at his residence on Monday, May 7, 2007 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Lilian (Nee Mishibinijima) at home. Dear son of the late Basil and Josette (Maiangowi) Webkamigad. Loving father of Diane Peltier (husband Raymond Peltier predeceased), Myles Webkamigad (wife Virginia M. Peltier predeceased), Albert Blake Webkamigad, Regina Webkamigad (friend John Flamand), Ephrem Webkamigad, Dominic Webkamigad and Walter (stepson) Mishibinijima all of Wikwemikong, George Webkamigad (friend Thelma Hare) of Toronto and the late Alfred Kenneth Webkamigad and the late MaryAnn Webkamigad. Will be sadly missed by 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and predeceased by 1 grandson. Dear brother of Henry Webkamigad, Josephine Pelletier, Sara Peltier, William Webkamigad, and Howie Webkamigad and the late Agatha, George, Jospeh, Earl, Ernest, Jacques and Marjory Webkamigad. Alfred's work history was extensive and varied which was farming, pulpwood cutting, house construction, pasture foreman and weekend Band Office Security. Alfred's main interests in life were his children. He was an avid hockey fan, as well he enjoyed baseball, soccer, horses and gardening. HIs quiet times were spent listening to music and storytelling. He loved to take his grandchildren for haircuts and to visit the barber. Alfred spent time scratching bingo cards. He was a lover of chewing tobacco and Juicy Fruit Gum. Immediate cremation. Visitation at St. Anthony Daniel Church, Kaboni from 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 9th until time of Memorial mass on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from Holy Cross Mission Church, Wikwemikong with Father Doug McCarthy officiating. Interment of the ashes in Wikwemiking Cemetery. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME, Espanola.
